Christopher Hoyt, 18, of Sharon, was arrested on Friday following the crash on Housatonic River Road in Salisbury, said Trooper Kelly Grant.
The crash occurred around 7:34 p.m. Friday, July 20 when Hoyt lost control of his vehicle while rounding a corner, rode up an embankment, on the right shoulder of the road, and overturned coming to rest in the roadway, Grant said.
Hoyt, who was not injured, refused medical treatment. His passenger, Lukas Kosko of Canaan was transported to Sharon Hospital via helicopter where he died from his injuries, state police said.
Police then administered Hoyt a field sobriety test which he failed. He was charged with traveling unreasonably fast and operating a vehicle under the influence.
He was released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 3.
